The demonstrations – have left 10 dead, five of them shot – started Feb. 4 students from San Cristóbal to the insecurity that hit the country, spread to other parts of Venezuela adding claims against inflation, the end police repression and the release of detainees during the protests. By nightfall, cities like Caracas, San Cristobal, Merida (west) or Valencia (north) are the scene of clashes between radical groups that block the streets and are dispersed by riot police and National Guard with water jets, gases and pellet shots.
